Owner and Founder: James (Jay) Harman, of Brielle, New Jersey started his career at Bridgewater Wholesalers, Inc. (BWI) in 1985 and spent the first seven years as an area representative calling on independent building material dealers and window and door specialty dealers. Jay was given the responsibility for corporate sales in 1991 and with the sales team he assembled and trained, tripled gross sales within four years. Jay was responsible for developing the trading area and training the outside sales force. He has developed and proven innovative sales techniques and promotions to differentiate each company in his career from other competitors and help ensure a strong customer allegiance. He was responsible for hiring, training and motivating a successful sales force which was one of the fastest growing Marvin Window Distributors in the country during 1995-1997. During his time at BWI, Jay's team had made BWI a leader in several of its product lines; #1 Nord (JELD-WEN exterior doors) distributor, #1 Masonite Door independent distributor in the US, #1 Maywood pine door distributor in the US. His other responsibilities included field sales for several house accounts in New Jersey, Long Island and New York City. While at BWI, Jay authored the Marvin Master Dealer Program in 1989. This sensible program helped level the playing field and reward dealers who promoted the Marvin product professionally. This program proved so successful that it increased sales, enhanced profit margins for BWI and its dealers. The basic premise of this program was adopted by two major window manufacturers on a national level, which continues to evolve today.

In early 1998 Jay and his father Jim (co-founder and COO of BWI) left BWI to launch Millennium Millwork Corp. (MMC) outside of Boston and a second location in Edison, New Jersey in 1999. Jay was a driving force in the launch of MMC through an unsuccessful buy-out of BWI to the acquisition of a former Georgia-Pacific location and negotiating new vendors. Since Marvin Windows were already well represented in New England, MMC had acquired distribution rights to JELD-WEN Windows and Doors from Maine to Delaware. Jay applied similar leadership techniques learned to BWI to launch and grow MMC and its product lines. During the time at MMC, Jay was recognized and credited for working with Masonite to introduce the "Carrera" two-panel molded doors, which is now one of the most popular interior door designs in the country. He was also instrumental in the promotion of JELD-WEN and MMC to be featured on two WGBH popular television series This Old House episodes in 2000- Charleston Project and 2001-Manchester-by-the-Sea, still their largest project to date!

Jay was instrumental in coordinating a televised factory tour of JELD-WEN's window facility located in Bend, Oregon. In late 2004 Jay and his father sold MMC to JELD-WEN primarily due to the long-term shift that JELD-WEN was planning to market and sell their windows directly through a dealer base and eliminate two-step distributors nationwide. In June of 2005, Jay purchased a 1930's building located and world known in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey and created the area's most comprehensive window and door design center promoting Marvin and JELD-WEN window products as well as complimentary millwork products. Through hard work, promotion to the architectural community and a commitment to customer attention and service after the sale, have enabled Jay to expand his business during a historically challenging time. In October of 2009, Jay purchased the building across the street from his original business; again a 1930's building which housed Asbury Auto Supply since 1930. He renovated the building to keep much of the design elements but more importantly created an environment in which Atlantic's customers can shop and make their final product selections.
